Giant Mountains - tundra island in the middle of Europe - are unique mosaic of mountain ecosystems. The slopes of the mountains inhabit mountain forests and meadows, the upper portion of flat ridges grows on mountain pine, alpine grasslands and peat communities. Species-rich areas are also of diamonds, caused by glaciers in the past. For this exceptional landscape value and in 1963 declared a national park. Administration is responsible for managing the Giant Mountains National Park, established in Vrchlabí. More on http://www.krnap.cz/en/ .
